File Explorers

Preamble

The site uses HTTPS, which is not really a good friend with Windows 98. To access to this site under Windows 98, use http://pegazus.space:5211/retro-os-files link, although it's unsecured connection; also be aware that using Windows 98 for Internet browsing is really, REALLY bad idea.

Windows Commander 4.54 is an early Total Commander version.

Total Commander 9.51 the latest Total Commander as of now, still works!

Q-Dir 6.24 is a 4-panel file browser.

Far Manager 1.75 is a program for managing files and archives in Windows operating systems. Far Manager works in text mode and provides a simple and intuitive interface for performing most of the necessary actions. Freeware. The last version that works on Windows 98; the Far 2 already needs Windows 2000.

Alt Commander 1.3-20071014 is a freeware File Manager for Windows. Some features include a built-in FTP client, file compare, archive file navigation, and a multi-rename tool.

xplorer² Lite - All the shell goodies from windows explorer — none of the hassle! The free lightweight version of xplorer² offers dual panes and folder tabs for efficient and trouble-free desktop file management.

Meesoft Commander 1.39 this is nice, I like the split-file viewing option, which also doubles as an image viewer/text viewer. Requires GDIPlus.dll.
